Declarations Open!
Every six months, we choose a new person to hold the positions of Monarch, Champion and Regent. After serving two terms a person cannot run for the same office! We will have our coronation to welcome in a new team on March 15th, and from today until February 1st folks can declare their candidacy!
A monarch, locally the duke, is the person who is overall in charge of coordinating with the rest of the team on scheduling and awards, as well as address any in game or out of game issues that come up.
A champion’s domain is what happens on the field. Their work is planning and running battlegames and quests. The monarch, champion, and guildmaster of reeves will all coordinate to make this happen and make sure everyone gets a break! They also run at least one tournament in their reign focused on the classic five categories of melee fighting.
A regent is in charge of promoting the arts and sciences at the park. They will run at least one tournament. There are so many fun ways to be regent, I’ve seen some do bookclubs, or iron garbers (where participants get mystery fabric), and coordinating lessons and craft nights with members who are willing to host!
The requirements to run for monarchy are to be 18 years old, be a member in good standing, take and pass the reeve and corpora tests, and submit a reign plan for the populous to see. If you are interested but unsure, there are many experienced players who would love to support you!
Park Campout
At the February 1st Althing, we will have a vote on bids on if we’d like to host a park level campout again next summer. To be considered in the February althing, bids are due on January 18t, either messaged directly to the monarchy or posted on the discord server.
In your bids, outline the basics of an event one would like to run. Identify your location, cost and budget, crats (volunteers in charge), a theme if desired, schedules, and any special considerations you’d like to include. Include the break-even amount of attendees paying gate fees.
So far, I have not received any bids, but Wicker Basket has talked to the location we used last year who would be willing to host us again.
