As Greenwood Keep is growing, there are many new people who start at the ground level with a few skills and trades. Very rarely do we get a new player who is a tradesman at the get-go.
Amtgard has a knight’s belt dedicated to the Arts and Sciences called the Serpent Belt – it’s a white belt with some form of green representing the efforts in striving for the belt. The Serpent Knight has spent many hours, money and literally blood, sweat and tears to get even the smallest line right.
We also have a Monarchy position designed to help promote and nurture the Arts and Sciences at the Kingdom and Land level. They are called Regents. Generally Regents strive to promote themselves and helps others in their endeavors of creating something wonderful, but they also usually know someone who can show someone else the ropes of how to make, say, a leather, tooled belt that will have different paints on them. Regents themselves are not brought into office just by being a Member of Good Standing or knowing how to draw a stick figure – they have to prove to their Kingdom/Land that they have the drive and willingness to learn, teach and achieve these feats by entering in their Kingdom/Land Crown Tournaments, and possibly Dragon Masters.
Greenwood Keep has a deep tradition of having some of the most wonderful and creative people in Northern Lights from food to weapon making, chain mail and recently a lot of knitting. Most of us have the means and knowledge of how to sew a nice, simple tunic. Several of the people of Greenwood Keep have gone on their journey to other lands and have made themselves a Master Garber, Master Dragon or have put enough needles in their hands or graphite to have permant skin-stains to become a Serpent Knight
