Crown Knighting of Galuria Arrowfox
Last weekend, Luminary Galuira Arrowfox of Greenwood Keep joined the Order of the Crown, representing her time in monarchy. She was already a Knight of the Flame, representing her service to the kingdom. She’s best known for her heart and art, serving as Regent, with a love of roleplaying her personas Ria, Lu, and Gally. She also has taught photography classes as part of the Northern Lights shutterhouse. If you have questions on how to do arts in Amtgard, or how to be a good Regent, she is a wonderful person to ask. She chose the moniker Luminary to represent her title of Knight, instead of using Sir or Dame.

In the photo, she is followed by some of her underbelts. Squire Dartz, Squire Thrin, and Page Floki. Underbelts not pictured are Squire Gunnarr and Squire Astro.

Knights take on underbelts for a variety of reasons. Each knightly family is a little bit different! A belted relationship is often a form of mentorship and mutual support. Knights and their families of underbelts will often communicate with each other about their goals, and help provide support. Knights may take squires, at-arms, and pages. Squires may take their own at-arms and pages as well.

Recognizing Others

Greenwood Keep is home to so many wonderful players. While we have a focus on battlegaming, we also have a healthy amount of crafting and a fantastic culture of volunteering. The awards given out at court are often ladder awards, which go from 1-10. Each rung on the ladder gets a little harder! The first time you enter a tournament you might get a few kills and earn your 1st Warrior. When you won 3 kingdom level tournaments, that can earn a 10th Warrior!

Not everything is so cut and dry, however. While tournament performance is easy to track, things like battlegaming, crafting and volunteering also have their own associated awards. Monarchy tries to keep an eye on everyone, but need help!

If you think someone’s done something cool and potentially award worthy, you can tell monarchy about it directly, or put it in the Online Record Keeper (also called the ORK!). Kodiak and Dartz can help you reset your password, everyone has an account made for them when they start playing.

Visit ork.amtgard.com, and search for the player you’re recommending. In the top right, it can help to preface the name with “NL:GWK” to specify that the player is from the Northern Lights at Greenwood Keep. You can look at all the awards they’ve earned, and if you think they’ve earned the next rung on the ladder, at the top of the Awards tab are the entry fields.

Typically, you’ll be recommending Order of Battle, Order of Rose, things like that. These all have numbers assicated with them. You’ll see a lot of other titles as well, such as Paragons, noble titles, and Masterhoods. These ones don’t need a number entered in the second field.

Some people love to click around on the ork, others would rather talk in person! Either works. Monarchy will look at the player and determine if the award is ready to go out. Remember, the main goal is to have fun. Not everything we do is for awards, nor should it be! My best advice is to just do the things that you enjoy.

Tidbits

  • Corn Maze Dungeon Crawl:

In a surprisingly sunny day, we had lots of fun at the corn maze! The ending game started as a 3 team node control game, but then was taken over by corn worshipers who would remove team flags with instead their idols of corn.

  • Raid of Blades Edge:

We went to Blades Edge and had a wonderful day in the drizzle! Merric’s dad took a ton of cool photos, findable here.

  • Greenwood Keep Wyvernmaster results:

With 12 entries from 8 people!

  • 2nd place, Ginevra The Fair One for a Coronet Box.
  • 3rd place, Wolven with a Quiver made of foam and yarn.
  • Iron Chef:

MacNCheese went to Seaside Keep to defend her Iron Chef title, and took second place with delicious mushroom jerky! We’re all rooting for her to win the overall reign challenge!

  • Champions Quest:

Imidris wrote her own quests! Adventuring parties took turns going into the woods, where Karu had been transformed into a demon and needed our help.

  • Hydra Hunt

Kodiak ran a quest out of the Dor un Avathar XI, where the iron wardens were eaten by a vicious Hydra! There was a sword in the middle of the lake, a honored item of the local fish people.

  • Sagittarius Tournament

Overall results from the kingdom archery tournament!

Althing

  • Bandanas
After testing out with Morkere’s bandanas, we are discussing the option of purchasing 3 colors (orange, brown, green) for use as team designators. This will be approximately $45+tax. The park also may choose to make some of these bandanas available for GWK members to purchase. Dartz has presented a variety of options, outlining what the additional volunteer workload would be.
  • Park Level Campout
At the February 1st Althing, we will have a vote on bids to host a park level campout. Bids are due on January 25th. Bids are a written document outlining the basics of an event one would like to run, including main volunteers, budgets, themes (if applicable), schedules, and special considerations. Include the break-even amount of attendees paying gate fees.
